Geoff Sankey

Geoff joined The Capital Fund in July 2002. He has a degree in electrical and electronic engineering and in 1979 qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Touche Ross in London. After working as a digital telecommunications design engineer for STC, he moved to 3i, initially as an Investment Controller at the 3i Southampton office and then as a Partner at 3i Ventures in London. During his 9 years at 3i Geoff built and managed a portfolio of private equity investments in businesses at every stage of development, and with particular emphasis on high technology ventures. From 1989 Geoff worked as an independent investment adviser and project manager for, amongst others, ANZ Merchant Bank, Williams de Broë, Ernst & Young, the EBRD and the British Government's Know How Fund. He managed projects in the UK and Russia, including the design and implementation of venture capital strategies. In 1999, Geoff returned to London to work on acquisition and fund-raising projects for quoted and unquoted clients.

Ian Cameron

Ian has eleven years of private equity and venture capital experience. Prior to joining YFM Venture Finance in 2002, he worked with CDC Capital Partners on private equity transactions in the emerging markets. Ian's early career was in industry where he worked both on process development and project management for companies including Unilever, Cussons International and Babcock International. Ian has a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Leeds and an MBA from the University of Bradford Management Centre.

Helen Gironi

Helen joined The Capital Fund in November 2003. She began her career at Nomura International and HSBC Investment Bank, where she provided corporate finance advice to UK and emerging market companies. She has worked on several different types of transaction including IPOs, block trades, privatisations, share offerings, mergers and acquisitions. Helen later worked for GoEast Ventures Ltd, investing in SMEs in east London. She has a degree in Chemistry from Bristol University.

Helen Reynolds

Helen joined The Capital Fund in October 2003. She gained her venture capital experience working for Seed Capital on the Oxford Technology venture capital Trusts, which invest in early stage UK based technology businesses. Prior to this, she worked for ZS Associates as a management consultant in the pharmaceutical sector. She holds an MSci in Physics from Cambridge University.

Benjamin Davis

Benjamin Davis

Benjamin joined The Capital Fund in December 2006. Prior to this he worked for merchant bank The Parkmead Group (previously Interregnum) across venture capital, corporate finance, company turnarounds and IP commercialisation in the UK & USA. Previously he worked as a consultant for companies including NESTA, Marks & Spencer and Securicor. Benjamin began his career in New Zealand, where he worked for the consultancy Synergy International as a project manager, and New Zealand Post as a business analyst. Benjamin holds an MBA from the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from the University of Auckland.

Karen Spray

Karen Spray

Karen joined The Capital Fund in September 2006. Prior to this Karen worked in an event management agency for 7 years followed by a year at the private equity firm Permira. Karen is the Office Administrator and has a BA Hons Degree in Business Studies.

The Capital Fund is managed by YFM Venture Finance Limited. YFM Venture Finance is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority and is part of the YFM Group. Trading names used in the past by the London office include London Fund Managers, Yorkshire Venture Finance and Yorkshire Fund Managers.
