What is an SME?

The definition of an SME (small and medium enterprise) used by The Capital Fund is a business or company that:

  1. has fewer than 250 employees;
  2. has either (a) an annual turnover not exceeding €50 million (approximately £24 million) and or (b) an annual balance sheet total not exceeding €43 million (approximately £16 million); and
  3. 25% or more of the capital or the voting rights are not owned by one enterprise, or jointly by several enterprises falling outside this definition of an SME.

The Capital Fund is managed by YFM Venture Finance Limited. YFM Venture Finance is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority FRN: 224728 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of YFM Equity Partners Limited. YFM Equity Partners Limited is registered in England and Wales, Company No. 04848599. Registered Office: Saint Martins House, 210-212 Chapeltown Road, Leeds LS7 4HZ. YFM Equity Partners Limited is part of the GLE Group of companies. Trading names used in the past by the London office of YFM Venture Finance Limited include London Fund Managers, Yorkshire Venture Finance and Yorkshire Fund Managers.
